In a nutshell, I’ve been married for 39 years. My husband is a soon-to-be-retired Detective with the San Antonio Police Department. Our daughter teaches art at an elementary school in DISD. Our first grandchild, a precious baby girl, was born on Thanksgiving Day, 2020. Our daughter divorced after an emotionally abusive marriage but reconnected with an old friend and is now happily married with a baby boy born in March 2024. Yes, much love and many challenges are wrapped up in that nutshell!
How did I get here? I worked at a bank after high school and hated it. I got married, and my husband put me through college so I could earn my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. My 35-year career started with IRS Criminal Investigation. As a Special Agent, I investigated complex tax fraud and money laundering. My husband also got his degree in Criminal Justice and then went to work for the San Antonio Police Department. So, after our daughter was born, I turned in my badge and gun. When I was ready to return to the workforce, I didn’t know what a former Special Agent could do. I found my skills were valuable to reputable tax attorneys and became a Certified Fraud Examiner. For the next 20+ years, I greatly enjoyed helping clients with their IRS civil and criminal cases.
One thing is certain in life—changes! With changes at work and home, being debt-free allowed me to pursue my calling to serve others full-time and help them through their transitions. Christ and ministry have always been important to me, and I’m living my dream, making it the central focus of my workday. All my education, training, and experience have led me to this point where I can serve you.
I’m disciplined and spiritual, so my day starts with coffee, bible, and prayer—AND I NEED to get back to working out again. I am also an avid reader; I published my first book and am already considering my second one! I served faithfully with Campus Crusade for Christ for four years, teaching at Lackland Air Force Base. For over 8 years, I have led Bible studies and seminars/retreats for LINC-South Texas and now serve on their Board. Precept Ministries trained me to teach the Inductive Bible Study Method. I have served in various leadership capacities at our local church, including Sunday School teacher (that’s where it starts), Sunday School Director, Board of Lay Ministers for Missions, and Board of Lay Ministers for Adult Education. Now, I serve as the Lead Evangelist trainer for Area B in our LCMS Texas District and the Evangelist Development Ministry Support Specialist.
My husband and I enjoy hiking and traveling. We've been blessed to zip-line through a rain forest and raft down the rapids in Costa Rica, rappel down a waterfall in Kauai, scuba dive off the Gold Coast in Australia, kneel at the star of Bethlehem where Jesus was born, ride in a boat across the Sea of Galilee, and follow the footsteps of Paul in Greece and Turkey. Our last big adventure was to Germany in 2022 for the Luther Lands Tour and the Oberammergau Passion play so I could see the country where I was born. The next one is to the United Kingdom to experience Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England!
